Next-intake application

We don't take everyone. We take the right few.

EPTA limits every intake to 10 students. The application helps James and Ewa understand your motivation, expectations and readiness for a practical 10-week course.

From James McKeenThe standard starts with selecting the right students

Before you apply

A small cohort is a commitment on both sides.

The Academy is designed for applicants who genuinely want to become capable personal trainers—not simply collect a certificate.

You do not need to arrive with all the answers. You do need to be willing to practise, accept direct feedback, prepare between sessions and contribute to a focused learning environment.

Keeping each intake to 10 students allows the teaching team to observe your coaching and support your development throughout the course.

What happens next?

A clear three-step application.

Step 01

Submit the form

Share your contact details, preferred intake and why you want to become a personal trainer.

Step 02

Talk with the Academy

If the course looks like a sensible fit, the team will contact you about an intake conversation.

Step 03

Confirm the fit

Use the conversation to ask questions and decide whether EPTA is the right route for your career.

Workshop

Paper to Practice Workshop

Saturday 28 November · 1pm to 5pm · Fitness Street, Edinburgh · £125

Qualified online but still don't feel ready to train clients? This is for you. It's also for trainers who want to sharpen their skills or have specific questions about helping their clients.

You'll design a programme, deliver it to a partner, then switch, with feedback on every session. We'll cover designing and delivering a 45-minute session, programme design, and hip function and getting the glutes working with each client. You leave with tools you can use straight away and the confidence to adapt them.

Only 6 places left. Application only.

Application questions

Know what to expect before you submit.

Does applying guarantee a course place?

No. The application starts a conversation so both you and the Academy can decide whether the course is a good fit.

Do I need previous fitness qualifications?

This page does not assume previous qualifications. Use the application to explain your experience and the Academy will advise you about the appropriate next step.

Where does the practical learning take place?

Practical sessions run at Fitness Street, a performance gym at 545–551 Gorgie Rd, Edinburgh EH11 3AR.
